Tennessee Voices, Episode 363: Bradford Vieira, ServisFirst Bank Nashville

The last several months have been a whirlwind for Americans who have heard competing and sometimes confusing messages in media outlets about whether the U.S. economy will be going into recession.

Numerous economic indicators have told different stories from rising interest rates to lowering inflation and from a softening real estate market to low unemployment.

On this episode of the Tennessee Voices video podcast, ServisFirst Bank Nashville Executive Vice President and Regional CEO Bradford Vieira offered some informed perspective on the economy.

Bradford said there has been a concern about the "r-word." While consumer spending and travel are resilient, he is concerned about a slowdown on the business side.

"The economy is going to have no choice but to slow down," he told me.

However, he said he believes it won't go very deep.

We also talked about building a company culture during COVID with stay-at-home policies and how return-to-work protocols are now affecting the workforce and quality of life.

Finally, our conversation veered toward affordable housing and the need to ensure that people such as young professionals do not get discouraged and deterred by high rents.
