While the current wave of COVID infections and hospitalizations does not match the early days of the pandemic, health care workers still live with the memories of healing and dealing with sometimes difficult situations and patients.
However, they stayed dedicated to their duty.
On this episode of the Tennessee Voices video podcast, Dr. Sammie Mosier, senior vice president and chief nurse executive of HCA Healthcare, spoke about the state of nursing today.
We discussed the challenges during the pandemic and the labor shortage the health industry faces today.
But we also talked about how HCA has grown the number of nurses by purchasing Galen College of Nursing.
In addition, Mosier explained how personal self-care training has become an important part of keeping nurses healthy.
Although the Nashville area has one of the best hospital systems in the country, Tennessee residents overall experience poor health outcomes.
Mosier spoke about the importance of access to health care and how technologies such as telehealth help connect patients with health care providers.
