Tennessee starting pitcher Chase Dollander threw his seventh strikeout of the game for the final out in the top of the sixth inning to retire Gavin Dugas.

Tennessee's Jorel Ortega hit a double down the left-field line that drove in Drew Gilbert from first base. Gilbert's run put Tennessee up 5-2 vs. LSU in the bottom of the fifth inning.

LSU leadoff hitter Dylan Crews hit a double to left-center field that allowed Drew Bianco to come around from first base to score in the top of the fifth inning. Bianco's run cut the Tennessee lead to 3-1.
