Apr. 12—WHS falls to South Knox

Washington (2-2) lost to South Knox 1-4 at home. The Hatchets' win came from Lacy Hancock at No. 1 singles.

At No. 2 singles, Annabelle Blake lost 2 and 2, Kenna Garland lost 6-2, 4-6, 4-6 at No. 3.

Ryley Traylor and Cassie Dillon lost 3 and 4 in the top doubles spot, while Lisset Santos and Ella Williams lost 2 and 3 at No. 2.

Maliyah Thorne and Breah Eskew also were winners at JV.

"It takes three points to secure a win. This week will give us an opportunity to play a lot of matches and see if we can put together some better results," said coach Brian Hancock.

Loogootee downs NED

LOOGOOTEE — The Lady Lions defeated NED to move to 5-2 on the young season on Tuesday with a 4-1 win over Dubois.

Kieragen Napier defeated Elizabeth Schepers, 6-2, 6-0, Caitlin Carrico defeated Sydney Roach 6-1, 7-5, but Mya Ziegler of NED defeated Marley McAtee, 6-3, 6-4

LHS took both doubles spots, with Ana Toy/Addy Lengacher beating Jessa Braunecker/Martina Treffiletti, 6-1, 6-0, and Abbey Fischer/Macy Knepp defeated Macey Harrison/Andrea Simmler 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-0.

The LHS JV won 2-1.

"This was a good team effort. We have played 7 matches in 8 days. Though we still have things to improve on, they have earned a much needed day off Wednesday," added coach Mike Tippery.

They play WHS on Thursday.

Vikes down WC, 5-0

The Barr Reeve tennis team added a 5-0 win versus Washington Catholic at the Sports Complex. Viking Briley Furman beat Chloe Garland, 0 and 0, Beth Graber downed Karan Kanipia, 0 and 1 and Brynlee Rollins beat Molly Brown, 0 and 1, all in in singles, The doubles teams of Sydney Swartzentruber and Dylan DeCoursey beat Mya Cline and Addie Talbert 1 and 2 and Allie Jo Robinson and Claire Harrison posted a win over Arilyn Tombleson and Audrey Tombleson, 0 and 0. B-R also took the JV matches 6-0.

Lions beat FP

FERDINAND — Loogootee had a 3-2 win over Forest park on Monday on the road. LHS got wins at No. 1 and 2, and No. 2 doubles. Kieragen Napier beat Kenzie Schulz, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 and Caitlin Carrico beat Addison Schneider, 6-2, 6-3. FP's Ali Wahl defeated Marley McAtee, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Avari Schneider/Kaylee Berg defeated Ana Toy/Addy Lengacher, 6-3, 6-3, while Lion Abbey Fischer/Macy Knepp defeated Jalynn Egloff/Ashlyn Dilger, 6-2, 6-3

In JV action Forest Park won 4-2.

"This was a nice win for us. I am seeing improvement on all courtsand that is all you can ask for as a coach," said LHS coach Mike Tippery.

Cougars lose to BNL

The North Daviess Cougars lost to Bedford, 5-0 recently.

At No. 1, Reagan Knepp lost to Becca Epping, 1-6, 2-6, Amaya McBride lost to Nadia Anderson, 5-7, 1-6 at No. 2 and No. 3 singles Emma Sargent fell to Italy Lewis, 4-6, 2-6

In doubles, Elaina Morgan and Meah Dalrymple lost to Isabella Stigall and Mallory Pride, 0-6, 2-6, while Gracelyn Byrer and Austyn Miller lost to Kenley Craig and Izzy Aldredge, 0-6, 2-6. The JV also lost to BNL, 4-0.
