- Serena Williams will play Garbine Muguruza in the French Open final after the top seed and defending champion defeated Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands 7-6 (9/7), 6-4 in the semi-finals. The 34-year-old American is aiming to win her 22nd Grand Slam title in Paris equalling the Open-era record set in Paris 17 years ago by Steffi Graf. Muguruza defeated Australia's Samantha Stosur 6-2, 6-4 in the other semi-final to reach the championship match in Paris for the first time. "The first set was not simple, but she was playing so well," Williams said of Bertens. "I need to keep my calm for the final and hope the fans will be with me."
