The Terence Young Experience coming to Aiken this Friday

Jul. 27—Where is the happening place to be this Friday night in Aiken?

Music-lovers can enjoy a relaxing evening of jazz and R&B featuring The Terence Young Experience from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the Amentum Center for the Performing Arts, 126 Newberry St. S.W.

Tickets are still available for the performance; tickets can be purchased online or in-person during box office hours.

During the program, urban guitarist Young will be joined by special guests Edwin G. Hamilton and the Double Threat Quartet.

Young is a popular jazz guitarist whose talent has been enjoyed at venues throughout the Southeast. He is a self-taught musician inspired by listening to artist such as George Benson and Nile Rogers. He began his career with his uncle playing gospel music and then cultivated his style by listening and incorporating other genres of music to develop his own style of jazz.

Hamilton is a professional musician and recording artist who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. His talents, hard work and professionalism have made him one of the most sought-after musicians in the Southeast.

Lauren Meccia earned a Bachelor of Music in Education with a Certificate in Saxophone Performance and a Master of Music in saxophone performance from the University of South Carolina. She has performed around the United States, Russia, Scotland and Japan. She has been a featured soloist with several symphony orchestras and concert bands throughout the U.S.

Bert Ligon received his Bachelor of Music and his Master of Music in jazz piano performance and arranging from the University of South Carolina. He has published several original compositions and arrangements for big band, jazz orchestra and steel drum ensembles.

Reggie Sullivan received his Bachelor of Music degree in jazz studies from the University of South Carolina in 2006 and has since become one of the most-requested musicians in Columbia. He has toured internationally with well-recognized jazz artists and legends.
