Terrebonne Parish President Gordy Dove congratulated Darrin Guidry and Domangue on their re-election to the leadership posts.

“It's so important that we work together, move forward for the better of Terrebonne Parish,” Dove said.

After the vote, Michel noted that it was the first time in the six years he has served on the council that a chairman has served two consecutive years. Michel accused Guidry of backroom deals and seeking power as he prepares to run for parish president.

Parish president and council elections are scheduled for fall 2023.

“It goes to show you that if you're willing to sacrifice your word and your morals you can get whatever perceived power you seek,” Michel said.

Guidry denied the accusations of backroom deals.

“The decisions will be made for the best of this parish. We just don't do backroom deals. And if that's what Mr. Michel believed what was going on, I apologize,” Guidry said. “But I'm not going to take any part in that.”

Navy urged council members to work together and remember they represent parish residents as a whole.

"But when we look at each other's district, and we attack things of people's natures, we're basically attacking other people that they represent also," Navy said. "And I do truly believe this, if you're going to represent anybody or somebody, you have to represent the whole parish."

The Courier/Daily Comet previously noted that Jessica Domangue is serving her second year as vice chairwoman. This is false, Danny Babin was vice chairman for 2021-2022. The Courier/Daily Comet regrets this error.
