‘It’s a terrible loss;’ 2 sisters killed in Cleveland house fire

Two sisters are dead after a house fire in Cleveland Saturday.

Just before 4 a.m. East Cleveland firefighters were called to the 1200 block of E. 135th Street to reports of a house fire according to our news partners at WOIO.

Firefighters said they transported Glenda, 71, and Geraldine Harris, 72, to the hospital, where they later died from their injuries.

Neighbors told WOIO the two were great neighbors and said it’s a terrible loss for their family and the community.

One neighbor said they tried to go into the house when they realized someone was still inside but the heat was too intense to continue.

Firefighters have not specified the cause of the fire.
