Texans QB Deshaun Watson and Seahawks’ Russell Wilson face the same problems

The drama in the NFL offseason swings like a pendulum between the drama with the Houston Texans and quarterback Deshaun Watson and the Seattle Seahawks with their Super Bowl-winning quarterback, Russell Wilson.

Watson has requested a trade, and has been relatively silent, save for subtle actions on social media or people in his inner circle taking jabs at the team.

Wilson reportedly stormed out of a meeting with the Seahawks during an idea session after feeling like the organization wasn’t hearing him when it came to improving the team.

Both Watson and Wilson have been under immense pressure, physically with the pass rush and mentally, since 2019.

According to Pro Football Focus, Wilson has thrown 24 touchdowns under pressure in that span, the most in the NFL. Trailing Wilson is none other than Watson with 18.

No wonder Watson and Wilson are being tempted to leave. When the organizations allegedly ask for their ideas and ignore them, it engenders dissatisfaction and intensifies feelings to depart. Obviously Wilson and Watson know they are good enough to lead teams to victories; just look at how well they can throw touchdowns under pressure. However, it takes its toll if they are merely the only competitive aspect on a team.

Like Watson, Wilson has a no-trade clause, which gives him the ultimate veto power when it comes to trade proposals. Like Watson, he can dictate where he wants to go. Like the Texans, the Seahawks now have to deal with an unhappy quarterback who has been the key aspect to their staying competitive over the past two seasons.
