Texas 17th-ranked WR Jaden Greathouse doesn't commit to South Carolina football

South Carolina came down to decision day as a finalist for a highly regarded recruit for the third time this week, and each time the Gamecocks failed to land a commitment.

Four-star wide receiver Jaden Greathouse from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, announced Friday for Notre Dame with the Gamecocks, Oklahoma and Texas the finalists. Greathouse (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) is ranked No. 113 overall and No. 17 at his position for the Class of 2023 in the 247Sports Composite.

Three-star CJ Adams from Mableton, Georgia, is USC's only wide receiver commitment. He's ranked 738th and 97th.

Greathouse is the fourth wide receiver to commit to Notre Dame, which is second behind Ohio State in the team rankings. Greathouse is the highest-ranked offensive commitment and seventh highest overall among the 19 who have pledged to the Fighting Irish. He caught 66 passes for 1,274 yards and 20 touchdowns last season as Westlake won a third consecutive Texas 6A state championship.

He was a teammate of Clemson freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik, a former five-star recruit.

USC was a finalist Monday, along with Alabama and Stanford, for top-10 quarterback Dylan Lonergan before he chose the Crimson Tide. The Gamecocks were among the final five Wednesday for three-star wide receiver Davion Dozier, who committed to Arkansas.

There are 18 uncommitted 2023 wide receivers among the 36 offers tendered to that position by the Gamecocks, including five who have USC listed among their finalists. and all are four-star recruits.

Tyler Williams (130th and 22nd) from Lakeland, Florida, will announce Sept. 27 from finalists USC, Clemson, Georgia, Texas A&M and Mississippi. Ayden Williams (150th and 25th) from Ridgeland, Mississippi, has USC, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, LSU and Jackson State among his finalists. No announcement date has been set.

Devin Hyatt (345th and 44th) transferred from Dutch Fork High School to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, for the upcoming season. No announcement date has been scheduled when he'll choose from finalists USC, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. His brother, Jalin Hyatt, is a junior wide receiver at Tennessee.

Carmelo Taylor (348th and 45th) from Roanoke, Virginia, will announce July 25 from finalists USC, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Maryland and West Virginia.

Offensive players who have announced for USC are led by four-star running back Dontavius Braswell, the second-highest player in the class at No. 264 overall and No. 14 at his position. Others are guard Trovon Baugh (352nd and 18th), tight end Connor Cox (768th and 40th), and athlete Kamron Sandlin (886th and 75th), who is expected to play tight end. Tackle Isaiah Jatta is ranked as the third-ranked junior college transfer and No. 1 at his position.
