In typical Texas fashion, the Horns are creating some serious offseason hype for next season.
The addition of a top-five recruiting class and a group of talented transfers headlined by quarterback Quinn Ewers are reasons to believe Texas could be in for a bounce-back 2022 campaign.
The Longhorns were included in 247Sports’ list of 10 teams who could flash during the 2022 season.
Beat defending SEC champion and preseason No. 1 Alabama at home in Week 2 and Texas goes from a fringe top-25 team to saddled with way-too-early playoff love. The offense is dynamic with five-star transfer Quinn Ewers and Doak Walker hopeful Bijan Robinson, but the other side of the football is the major question for a possible Big 12 title candidate. Texas getting too much preseason respect after a 5-7 finish is a valid discussion point, but this roster for Steve Sarkisian is talented and hard to ignore.
Plugging in Quinn Ewers with established stars Bijan Robinson and Xavier Worthy should create one of the more explosive offenses in the country. The defense still needs to make major improvements for Texas to make any significant noise in the Big 12.
