Texas assistant attorney general loses job over anti-LGBTQ, anti-Muslim, pro-QAnon tweets

An assistant attorney general for Texas has lost his job after a series of anti-Muslim, anti-LGBTQ and pro-QAnon tweets were brought to light this week by Media Matters for America, a progressive media watchdog.

Nick Moutos, the now-fired member of the criminal prosecutions division of the Texas Office of the Attorney General, is also a former Republican congressional candidate. He ran this year in Texas’ 35th Congressional District but lost in the primary.

Earlier this year, MMFA added Moutos to a long list of QAnon supporters who are running for congress in 2020.

The constantly-updated list has 78 current of former candidates who publicly embrace the far-right conspiracy theory, which has been labeled as a potential domestic terrorism threat by the FBI.
