Texas baseball by the numbers while riding 15-game winning steak

Texas baseball has turned the tide after a sluggish start to the 2023 season.

Since dropping a road series to Cal State Fullerton on March 5, the Longhorns have rattled off 15 straight wins. The streak included a series sweep over No. 14 Texas Tech and a midweek victory against rival Texas A&M.

Texas’ pitching has been solid from the start of the season. Lucas Gordon has thrived in the Friday night role, while USC transfer Charlie Hurley is putting together a good year in his own right.

The key to Texas’ turnaround has come from an improved offensive attack. The Longhorns have cut down the early strikeouts and are starting to swing the bat more consistently.

Outfielders Eric Kennedy and Porter Brown are each enjoying career seasons anchoring the Longhorns lineup. Senior utility player Peyton Powell’s emergence has sparked the rest of the team since earning his spot in the order.

Texas’ hot streak has provided a significant bolster to their resume. Here is a deeper look at Texas baseball by the numbers as we approach the month of April.
