Texas Democrats Seen in DC Amid Action Against Republican Voting Bill

Democrats from the Texas House were seen in Washington on Tuesday, July 13, after more than 50 lawmakers headed to the nation’s capital the previous day in an attempt to block a Republican-backed voting bill in their state.

According to local reports, the move would deny Republicans the quorum needed to pass new voting restrictions, which aim to “rein in” drive-thru and 24-hour voting, as well as tighten the rules on mail-in voting.

According to Texas House rules, two-thirds of the 150-member chamber must be present to conduct business.
