Texas first lady recognizes Longview organization with Community Champion Award

LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) – Partners in Prevention in Longview was among the recipients of the 40th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards announced by first lady Cecilia Abbott and OneStar Foundation.

The Longview organization received a Community Champion Award for creating positive change and tackling challenges in the community, a release said.

According to Partners in Prevention, the organization aims to address community barriers like poverty, race relations, underage drinking and illegal drug usage.

“These awardees—and those honored over the past four decades—are a testament to the true strength and selfless leadership embedded in the spirit of Texas,” Abbott said.

In April, during National Volunteer Month, Partners in Prevention and 14 other awardees will be invited to a reception at the Texas Governor’s Mansion, where their work will be honored.
