Texas provided an injury update for two key players hours ahead of the regular-season finale vs. Kansas State.

After one of his best performances of the season, quarterback Hudson Card suffered a high ankle sprain against West Virginia last week and will not play against Kansas State. Casey Thompson is expected to receive the start, while Ben Ballard will serve as the backup.

Starting linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, one of the primary leaders on the defensive side of the ball for Texas, will also be sidelined on Friday due to a lingering foot injury.

The Longhorns are riding a six-game losing streak and are hoping to end this underwhelming season on a high note. First-year head coach Steve Sarkisian’s plan is to revamp the roster this offseason by bringing in over 30 new scholarship players.

The season finale vs. Kansas State offers an opportunity for younger players to receive playing time, and for depth pieces to prove that they belong on the roster next season.
