Texas lawmakers offer support, prayers following deadly shooting at Allen Premium Outlets

Texas lawmakers offered their support following a shooting Saturday afternoon at the Allen Premium Outlets.

Nine people, including the gunman, were killed and seven victims remained hospitalized, officials said Saturday night. The victims included children.

Medical City Healthcare system said it was treating eight patients between the ages of 5 and 61. Two patients died at hospitals.

“Our hearts are with the people of Allen, Texas tonight during this unspeakable tragedy,” Abbott said in a statement Saturday. “I have been in contact with Mayor (Ken) Fulk and DPS Director (Steven) McCraw as well as other state and local leaders and offered the full support of the State of Texas to local officials to ensure all needed assistance and resources are swiftly deployed, including DPS officers, Texas Rangers, and investigative resourc

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz wrote on Twitter that he and his wife Heidi were praying for the families of the victims.

“We pray also for the broader Collin County community that’s in shock from this tragedy,” Cruz wrote.

“My team is in contact with local officials, and I have offered whatever support is needed to do justice and help those in need. Thank you to the incredible law enforcement who put a stop to the monster who committed this act of evil.”

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn wrote he was grateful for the Allen police officers and Collin County first responders.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick offered prayers: “Please join Jan and me in mourning the victims of the unspeakable tragedy in Allen. Please also join us in prayer for the victims’ families and friends along with the residents of Allen,” he wrote in a statement. “We are grateful for our brave first responders who were deployed to stop the shooter and investigate this hideous crime. We are thankful for their bravery and courage.”
