History of Bevo: The Texas Longhorns mascot

Bevo XV has served as the Longhorn's mascot since his introduction in 2016, but the tradition dates back over a century. In the past 107 years, there have been 15 burnt orange and white longhorns that have taken on the role of Bevo.

He was introduced as the Longhorn's mascot at a University of Texas at Austin football game against Texas A&M on Thanksgiving day in 1916. UT won 21-7.

According to UT, Bevo XIII famously presided over 16 seasons of Texas football and accumulated more wins than any of his 12 predecessors. He also attended President George W. Bush's presidential inauguration in 2001.
