Texas makes the top five for 2024 PF Marcus Adams Jr.

2024 power forward Marcus Adams Jr. has narrowed down his recruitment to five schools.

Texas made the cut for Adams, along with Syracuse, Oregon, Mississippi State and UCLA. A decision is expected from Adams within the next month. Some believe Adams may hit the college ranks early and reclassify to the class of 2023.

Adams is a multi-level scorer who profiles as an impact player on both sides of the ball. His 6-foot-8 frame and athleticism give Adams a high upside moving forward with his career.

247Sports lists Adams as the No. 6 player in the state of California and the No. 16 small forward in the 2024 cycle. He is one of the quickest-rising prospects in his class.

Adams is one of the more productive high school players in the nation, averaging 30 points and 10 rebounds per game for Narbonne High School.

He recently spoke about what stands out about each of his top five schools with 247Sports.

Oregon

Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

“The city is nice, Nike is there, I like their colors, and they have great coaches. I like their head coach and their assistant coach is an energetic guy. They have a good history in the Pac-12 so it’s a great place to be.”

Mississippi State

Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

“Coach Austin is a great coach, I like the area, fan base and they show a lot of enthusiasm.”

Texas

Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

“They have a great coach even though he got fired. Since then one of the assistant coaches offered me. Overall coach Terry is a good coach, they have good people over there, and have a very good crowd.”

Syracuse

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

“They tell me I’m a one and done, a good player, they need me, and I love the coaches. I saw on my visit that Boeheim, coach Griff, coach Gerry, and coach Autry are all good coaches. Also the fan base is crazy and Syracuse checks all the boxes. The only thing is that they’re far from but that’s not an issue for me.They still treat you like a family.”

UCLA

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

“They’re close to home, have good players and a great coaching staff. They’re a good program with good history and a nice fan base.”
