Texas man charged with sexually assaulting two girls in Raritan

A 41-year-old man was arrested in Texas and charged with sexually assaulting two adolescent girls in Raritan Borough.

Janakiraman Somasundaram, who has relocated to Celina, Texas since the alleged crimes occurred, was arrested July 5 at his home and is facing three counts of second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact, two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald said.

Somasundaram was brought to New Jersey July 18 and was at the Somerset County Jail awaiting a detention heading.

On June 19 a 12-year-old girl alleged to Somerset County authorities that she was sexually assaulted by Somasundaram, whom the family knew, three times between the ages of 8-11, McDonald said.

A few days later on June 23 a 15-year-old girl alleged Somasundaram also touched her sexually on two occasions, McDonald said.
