Texas mom involved in State 79 head-on collision dies, Florida Highway Patrol says

PANAMA CITY BEACH — A Texas woman involved in a head-on collision Friday on State 79 has died, Florida Highway Patrol officials said Monday.

The woman and her daughters, ages 12 and 15, were heading north on State 79 near Pine Log Road at 6:23 a.m. Friday when their sport utility vehicle was struck by a southbound sedan driven by a 31-year-old Bonifay man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators believe the man crossed the median and went directly into the path of the 39-year-old Princeton, Texas, woman's vehicle. He was thrown from his car and later pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman and her daughters were taken to area hospitals, the elder daughter in critical condition and the younger one in serious condition.

The conditions of the children were not released on Monday.
