Texas Police Release Dramatic Collision Footage After 'Misinformation and Confusion'

Dramatic dashcam footage shows a police car collide with another vehicle in Lubbock, Texas, on November 3.

The footage, released by Lubbock Police Department, shows the moment the officer’s Chevrolet Tahoe hit a red Camaro on University Avenue.

According to a statement by police, the officer was trying to catch up with another vehicle after spotting a violation behind an ambulance. He had his sirens and lights on, and had a green light at the time of the crash. The department told local media that the driver of the Camaro was turning left onto the S Loop 289 access road and failed to yield.

Both drivers suffered moderate injuries, and the incident is being investigated by the department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit.

Police said they decided to released the footage “due to the amount of misinformation and confusion” related to the incident. Credit: Lubbock Police Department via Storyful
