Which Texas Rangers star is the newly hired head coach at Fort Worth Christian School?

Texas Rangers legend Rusty Greer has been hired by Fort Worth Christian School as a head baseball coach, the school announced in a press release Wednesday.

Greer has coached at several levels of the game with experience at Texas Wesleyan University, DBAT baseball academy, the Dallas Mustangs youth baseball club and Jacksonville State. Greer played in the MLB from 1994 to 2002 and has a career batting average of .305.

“We are excited about the future of our baseball program under Rusty Greer’s leadership,” Athletic Director Kyle Story said in a press release. “His unparalleled experience, expertise, and genuine passion for the game will undoubtedly inspire our student-athletes to reach their full potential, both on and off the field.”

Greer tallied 1116 hits, 614 RBIs and 119 home runs, all with the Rangers. In 2007, Greer was inducted in the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.

Greer has a reputation as a defensive guru and has a passion for teaching the defensive aspect of baseball. In his rookie year, 1994, Greer made a diving catch to keep Kenny Rogers’ perfect game alive; it was the only perfect game in Rangers’ franchise history.

“We are thrilled to have such an outstanding baseball coach and person to lead the entire baseball program,” Co-Head of School Kent Means said in a press release. “Rusty’s vision for developing the talent at all ages is great for the future of Cardinal baseball.”

In 2022, the Cardinals finished third in the TAPPS DII District one standings with a record of 19-13 and a district record of 5-3. Will Greer lead FWC Athletics to success with his abundance of experience?

“We are proud to announce Rusty Greer as the new head baseball coach at Fort Worth Christian,” FWC Athletics wrote on Twitter. “Welcome to the Cardinal family, Coach Greer!”
