Texas runners Rhasidat Adeleke and Kevona Davis celebrate winning the 400-meter relay in record time Saturday at the Texas Relays at Myers Stadium.

The Texas women had another strong showing in the 400-meter relay Saturday. The quartet of Julien Alfred, Rhasidat Adeleke, Kevona Davis and Ezinne Abba finished in 42.00 seconds flat. That's a collegiate record. In Friday's prelims, Texas set a meet record when it ran around the track in 42.38.

Alfred and Adeleke rewrote the record books a few times this weekend.

They both ran 800-meter and sprint medley relays that set collegiate records. On Saturday, the 800-meter relay team was timed at 1:28.05. The sprint medley — which includes two 200-meter sprints, a 400-meter dash and an 800-meter run — had a record time of 3:36.10 the day before.

Davis also ran on the 800-meter relay team.

Loud and clear: Taylor senior Jarvis Anderson has spent his entire career excelling in football and track and field. He added to his long list of achievements when he captured the 300 hurdles at the Texas Relays.

Anderson set a school record by winning in 36.30 seconds. That ranks as the No. 2 time in the nation. He won a tight race over Houston Langham Creek senior Alex Ornelas, an Illinois signee. Bound for Stephen F. Austin, Anderson represented the U.S. last summer in the 2022 Summer Deaflympics in Caxias Do Sul, Brazil.

Working overtime: Texas sophomore Solomon Washington competed in both the triple jump and long jump this weekend.

The Texas Relays weren't just a competition for Washington. They were also a family affair. Washington's sister Symone tied for second place in the women's section B long jump Friday. He is also the son of former UT track athletes Johnny and Monica Washington.

"My parents came to Texas, so I think I've been to just about every Texas Relays since I was born," said Washington, who attended Stony Point. "Just being able to actually compete and show out here means a lot."

Washington has another sister, Sydney, who ran at Baylor from 2018 to 2022. So is Symone the black sheep in the UT-heavy family since she's a Sooner?

"Growing up, we really didn't know OU as really a rival. It was always Texas vs. A&M," Solomon said. "She might say it a little differently, but I feel like it's whatever."

Noteworthy: Round Rock's 3,200-meter relay team earned a silver medal. The team of Sarah Willson, Meredith Wolfe, Ivy Parada and Lily Horvath crossed in 9:08.35. Lewisville Flower Mound won in 8:50.80. ... Xavier Drumgoole, a junior from Round Rock, won a silver medal in the triple jump with a leap of 49-8¼. Taylor's Anderson finished sixth in the event. ... Early Saturday morning, UT's Kiana Lowery had a personal best in the discus with a 5.96-meter throw, good for a top-eight placement on the Longhorns' all-time list. This season, she has already surpassed her personal best in the hammer throw and has a pair of second-place finishes. ... Lowery came into the competition ranked as the No. 8 seed and was topped only by Ole Miss' Tedreauna Britt.
