Texas Report Card: PFF grades from the Rice matchup

Texas absolutely dominated Rice on Saturday evening.

The final score ended up being 58-0, but Texas put up 44 of those points in the first half. Although it was against an inferior opponent, the Longhorns did exactly what they needed to do and played a clean game in all three phases. It will certainly serve as a confidence booster prior to Big 12 play.

The story of the game was Texas’ explosive rushing attack, but the Longhorns also recorded their first shutout since 2017. Even the special teams unit joined the party with Keilan Robinson’s blocked punt that resulted in a safety.

Believe it or not, Texas only committed two penalties throughout the contest. That marks their fewest in a game since 2016. It was a refreshing performance after suffering a humbling loss to Arkansas in Week 2.

As far as Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades from this game, the top performer on offense was Roschon Johnson, while Ovie Oghuofo held that honor on the defensive side. Take a look at which Longhorns graded well, and which ones were on the wrong end of the spectrum.
