Texas Roadhouse has eyes on first Ocean County restaurant

TOMS RIVER - Texas Roadhouse, the Louisville, Kentucky-based steakhouse, hopes to open a new restaurant at Ocean County Mall, its first location in Ocean County.

Texas Roadhouse wants a liquor license for a new restaurant at 1201 Hooper Ave., the address of Ocean County Mall, according to a legal notice. Toms River has received an application to transfer a retail consumption liquor license from Ocean Ventures Liquor I LLC to Texas Roadhouse Holdings LLC, the notice states.

It seems to be in the early stages.

The township has not yet received an application for a zoning permit or a site plan application for a Texas Roadhouse restaurant, township Planner David Roberts told What's Going There. A mall spokesperson did not have any information.

Texas Roadhouse also is hiring for a Toms River store, advertising for jobs such as managing partner, which is a general manager role, and restaurant manager.

Texas Roadhouse has seven locations in New Jersey, including restaurants on Route 9 in Howell and Old Bridge and Route 35 in Holmdel.

Texas Roadhouse would join other restaurants that have come to Ocean County Mall in recent years as part of its new lifestyle center. BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse opened in mid 2019. P.F. Chang's opened in April and Tex-Mex restaurant On the Border is on the way next door.

Breakfast, lunch and brunch spot Turning Point and a cafe, Sweetwater's Coffee & Tea have opened too.
