Texas State offers financial help

Texas State University has announced more than $6.5 million in federally funded emergency assistance will be available to students for the spring 2022 semester through Bobcat Cares to help enrolled and eligible students lessen financial insecurity caused by the pandemic.

The application period for the spring 2022 Bobcat Cares Emergency Grant is open until Feb. 1.

The $6.5 million in student assistance will be distributed directly to eligible students through the federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. The emergency grants will help Texas State students deal with the financial burden caused by the pandemic and assist with the costs of attending college.

Currently enrolled full- and part-time students are eligible to receive emergency funds to offset expenses related to any component of the cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, housing, food, books, supplies and travel expenses to and from Texas State campuses. The funds can also cover emergency costs due to the coronavirus, including health care, mental health care and child care.

Health institute gets $250,000 grant

St. David’s HealthCare has announced the HCA Healthcare Foundation has awarded a $250,000 grant to Central Texas Allied Health Institute to support student success.

The funding is part of the HCA Healthcare Foundation’s Healthier Tomorrow Fund, a $75-million community impact fund that is designed to support innovative initiatives focused on addressing high-priority community needs and health equity.

St. David’s HealthCare is a partnership between HCA Healthcare, the St. David’s Foundation and the Georgetown Health Foundation.

Activity center has membership drive

The Lakeway Activity Center is hosting a membership drive.

For residents, memberships cost $30 for individuals or $50 for households annually. For nonresidents, memberships cost $80 for individuals or $120 for households annually.

Membership perks include class, event and rental discounts; preferred seating; free notary; membership clubs and activities and rental discounts.
