The 2022-23 Texas Tech men's basketball roster is starting to take shape.

A day after getting a commitment from Oregon transfer De'Vion Harmon, 6-foot-11 center Fardaws Aimaq announced on the Field of 68 podcast that he will also be playing for the Red Raiders next season after transferring from Utah Valley.

He chose Texas Tech over Washington, Gonzaga, Iowa and Texas.

"excited to put my heart and soul on the line for the LBK," Aimaq wrote Friday in a Tweet with an included commitment graphic to Texas Tech.

Aimaq was the Western Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 18.9 points, 13.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, totaling 27 double-doubles for the Wolverines (tied for the most in the nation with Kentucky's National Player of the Year Oscar Tschiebwe). This comes a year after the Canadian import was named the WAC Player of the Year and DPOY during the 2020-21 campaign.

Aimaq becomes the fourth transfer to join Texas Tech, joining Harmon, D'Maurian Williams (Gardner-Webb) and Jaylon Tyson (Texas).

Terrence Shannon, Jr., a Chicago native, announced Friday his intention to transfer to Illinois which competes in the Big Ten. The 6-foot-7 wing, who averaged 10.4 points and 2.6 rebounds, announced back on April 7 that "this will be my last season here at Texas Tech," via a graphic he posted to social media.

Shannon confirmed with the Avalanche-Journal that he entered his name in the transfer portal, but was still considering a return to Texas Tech back on March 25 — a day after the Red Raiders suffered a 78-73 loss to Duke in the Sweet 16.

Along with his Friday commitment, Aimaq entered his name in the NBA Draft. The draft combine is set for May 16-22 in Chicago and any athletes who declared have until 11:59 p.m. June 1 to withdraw from the draft and return to college.

Earlier this week, TTU officially announced a five-year, $15.5 million extension for head coach Mark Adams, who led the Red Raiders to the Sweet 16 in his first year at the helm.

Last week, Kevin Obanor announced that he will be returning for his final college season. Obanor notched double-doubles in each of Tech's three NCAA Tournament games, giving him six such games for his career.

The Red Raiders also have three freshman signed for the upcoming season in Richard Isaacs, Lamar Washington and Robert Jennings. Each is ranked as a four-star prospect according to ESPN.
