Texas Tech football highlights vs. No. 16 NC State
The Texas Tech football team takes on a second-straight nationally-ranked opponent in an away contest against the North Carolina State Wolfpack at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.
The Red Raiders defeated No. 25 Houston 33-30 in double-overtime Sept. 10. The win was Texas Tech's first against a ranked non-conference opponent in the regular season since 1989, when Arizona was the victim in the season opener.

Quarterback Donovan Smith, who took over as the Texas Tech starter after Tyler Shough was injured in the first game of the season, tossed three three interceptions and was sacked five times against the Cougars.
But Smith completed 36 of 58 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns, and made key plays to keep the game alive for the Red Raiders, earning Big 12 offensive player of the week honors.

In their previous game, NC State blasted FCS for Charleston Southern 55-3 Sept. 10.
Texas Tech and NC State entered the game with 2-0 records.

The Red Raiders fall to 2-1 on the season with their 27-14 loss to the Wolfpack. Texas Tech hosts Texas next weekend.

Touchdown run by Texas Tech QB Donovan Smith cuts into NC State lead
The Red Raiders faked a reverse to the left while Smith went the other way right into the end zone for a three-yard scoring run. Texas Tech trails NC State, 27-14, with 10:46 remaining in regulation.

Double-pass to Sumo-Karngbaye goes for NC State touchdown.
The trick play resulted in Sumo-Karngbaye's second touchdown of the night. The Wolfpack now lead, 27-7, with 14:20 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Forced fumble prevents NC State from extending lead over Texas Tech
Wolfpack fans, look away. NC State seemed primed for another touchdown when quarterback Devin Leary connected with a wide-open Sumo-Karngbaye. But right before Sumo-Karngbaye crossed the goal line, Texas Tech defensive back Dadrion Taylor-Demerson punched the ball out of the back of the end zone. The fumble resulted in a touchback and Texas Tech took over, still trailing 20-7.

Red Raiders score touchdown, cut into Wolfpack lead before halftime
Off of play action, Smith fired a pass over the middle to wide receiver Myles Price, who juked a Wolfpack defender out and ran over another one into the end zone for the first Red Raider points of the night. Texas Tech trails No. 16 NC State, 20-7, at halftime.

Smith took a shotgun snap and looked to his right before firing a throw that went right into the arms of NC State defensive back Aydan White, who went 84 yards to the house. After the miscommunication by Texas Tech on the passing play, NC State leads 20-0 with 4:40 remaining in the first half.

NC State's Demie Sumo-Karngbaye scores first touchdown of night against Texas Techx
After two first-quarter field goals by the Wolfpack, Sumo-Karngbaye took an outside handoff around the edge for a 14-yard rushing touchdown. NC State leads Texas Tech, 13-0, with 10:13 remaining in the second quarter.
