Texas Tech University’s Office of Research & Innovation has named a new executive director of The Northwest Texas Small Business Development Center - Carla Holland. She will be taking over for Judy Wilhelm, who is retiring after five years.

"I’m excited to be a part of a team that has produced outstanding results," Holland said in a news release. "The NWTSBDC provides entrepreneurial outreach into the community and our resources are available to students and alumni to support their business endeavors."

Along with the regular duties of executive director, Holland will oversee two grant-funded programs that provide small business technical assistance. The Procurement Technical Assistance Center supports businesses seeking government contracts while the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center offers support to manufacturers.

Holland's experience spans 15 years in economic development through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business Development Center. Prior to becoming executive director for the Northwest Texas center, she was the state director of the Louisiana SBDC network.

"On behalf of the U.S. Small Business Administration, I can say without reservation that we are very excited and fortunate to welcome Carla Holland as our new Northwest Texas SBDC network director," said Calvin Davis, district director for the West Texas District Office of the SBA.
