The Texas Tech soccer team wraps up the regular season Thursday with an important Big 12 match against 15th-ranked TCU, which has won the past two regular-season conference championships.

Tech (9-3-5, 5-1-2) and TCU (10-3-4, 5-1-2) are tied for second in the Big 12 behind No. 17 Texas (12-1-4, 6-0-2). The Red Raiders and the Horned Frogs square off at 7 p.m. Thursday in Fort Worth, and the Longhorns host Oklahoma in a regular-season finale at the same time in Austin.

Tech can finish alone in second by beating TCU and can earn a share of the Big 12 title with a victory, plus a Texas loss to Oklahoma. TCU would be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament if it beats Tech and OU beats Texas.

The Red Raiders have won five matches in a row. Their only loss in the past 12 matches was a 2-0 defeat against Texas on Sept. 25.

TCU's Messiah Bright (nine goals, three assists, 21 points) and Tech's Ashleigh Williams (9-0-18) are tied for second in the Big 12 in goals. Williams, a sophomore forward from Allen, has six goals in the Red Raiders' past five matches.

Tech goalkeeper Madison White leads the conference in shutouts (eight) and ranks second in goals-against average (.647) and save percentage (.810).

TCU is 8-0-1 in the past nine meetings with Tech with three consecutive shutouts.

Softball

Texas Tech continues its fall schedule by hosting Lubbock Christian University at 5 p.m. Thursday at Rocky Johnson Field.

It's the fourth of five home dates for the Red Raiders against other opponents in the fall. They host McLennan Community College in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Nov. 4.

Men's basketball

Texas Tech's Kevin Obanor is on the preseason watch list released Wednesday for the Julius Erving Award, which goes to the top shooting forward in college basketball.

Obanor, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound senior, is one of 20 players, including three from the Big 12, on the list. He averaged 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season, when Tech went 27-10 and reached the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament. He made a team-high 48 3-point goals.
