Texas Tribune to host safe water event

Apr. 28—The Texas Tribune has scheduled Broken Pipes: How Can We Keep Water Safely Flowing in Texas at noon May 9 at the UTPB engineering building at 1788 and 191.

Texans have felt the effects of poor infrastructure throughout the state. In rural Texas, towns have gone weeks with boil water notices. And the issue made national news when a 60-year-old water line broke in Odessa, leaving the city without water for several days in the midst of a historic drought. Even Houston, the nation's fourth-largest city, has grappled with water quality issues due to infrastructure.

The event features Carlos Rubinstein, principal at RSAH2O, and Dustin Fawcett, Ector County judge.

The discussion will be moderated by Jayme Lozano-Carver, South Plains and Panhandle reporter for The Texas Tribune. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. May 9 at the Engineering Building in Henry Auditorium, Room 1200, Engineering Building, 11105 W Hwy 191.

This in-person event will be simultaneously livestreamed for virtual attendees and will be available to watch on demand afterward at texastribune.org/events.
