Texas Woman Allegedly Poses as Fake Twin Sister with Autism to Sexually Assault Caregiver: Cops

Woman Allegedly Poses as Fake Twin Sister with Autism

A 29-year-old Texas woman is accused of pretending to be her nonexistent twin sister with autism in order to trick a caregiver into having sex with her, police alleged on Thursday.

According to the Pearland Police Department, Rachel Childs concocted an elaborate scheme to seduce the caregiver into sexual activity. In a press release, the police allege that Childs paid the unidentified caregiver to pick up her “twin sister” at Childs’ house, take her to the caregiver’s house, and then return her the next morning.

“During the stay at the caregiver’s home, the ‘sister’ engaged in sexually oriented conduct toward the caregiver who became suspicious as her behavior did not reflect that of someone who [has autism],” said Pearland Police in a statement released to the media on Thursday. “As a result, the caregiver investigated and determined that Ms. Childs was an only child and contacted the Pearland Police Department.”

Cops immediately began investigating the case and launched and determined that Childs doesn’t have autism nor an identical twin sister. Police say in a statement that they believe that Childs was trying to pull of an elaborate hoax “for sexual gratification.”

Childs has been charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault and indecent exposure, according to court records. The Houston Chronicle reports that she turned herself in to police on January 3.

Childs has been released on bond and has not yet entered a plea. Court records do not reflect an attorney authorized to speak on her behalf. She did not immediately return PEOPLE’s call for comment.

The Pearland Police Department believes that there might be additional persons who were similarly deceived by Ms. Childs. They ask anyone with further information to contact Detective C. Arnold at 281-997-4151 or Carnold@pearlandtx.gov.
