Texas woman dies, child taken to hospital in Ascension Parish car crash
SORRENTO, La. (BRPROUD) — An Orange, Texas woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 in Sorrento.
Louisiana State Police said the crash happened when Karissa L. Harris, 37, exited the roadway when she was traveling east on I-10 and struck several trees before overturning.

According to LSP, Harris died from her injuries. Investigators noted that she was not properly restrained and impairment could have been a factor in the crash.
Troopers said a two-year-old passenger who was in Harris’ car was taken to a local hospital for observation.
This crash is under investigation.
