Texas woman shoots salon owner over cost of mani-pedi

A Texas woman was arrested last week after she allegedly shot a salon owner because the cost of her manicure and pedicure was too high.

Joana Vara, 21, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after she and her 20-year-old sister got into an argument over the cost of the services at Katy Nails in Houston on May 29.

According to a report, Vara left the store as her sister Quetzali argued and returned. When the 42-year-old Asian man who owns the salon tried to push them back outside, Vara allegedly shot the man with a handgun before the sisters fled. However, Vara left her phone behind at the scene.

The man was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center in critical but stable condition, according to the statement from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Quetzali Vara was charged with evading but records show she is not longer in custody. Joana Vara’s bond has been set at $60,000.
