Texas Woman’s University has found its next general counsel and associate vice president of compliance in Katherine Antwi Green, a former state prosecutor who has a quarter century of experience in government and higher education.

Green began her new job on Tuesday, according to an announcement from TWU, a public co-ed university in Denton, Texas. She’s responsible for legal issues and overseeing compliance with laws and policies as they relate to the university. She also will serve as secretary to TWU’s nine-member Board of Regents.

Green replaces Destinee Waiters, who had been with TWU since 2014 and announced that she planned to step down last July. Waiters was making about $152,000 a year, according to TWU’s latest higher education administrative accountability report. She'll stay with TWU through Jan. 25 to ease Green’s transition into her new role, according to a statement from Carine Feyten, TWU’s chancellor and president.

“While I know we will miss Destinee both professionally and personally, I am confident that Katherine will provide exceptional legal guidance and support for the university as we take our next steps forward,” Feyten said.

Green joins TWU from the University of North Texas System, where she served as associate GC for a network of three independent universities with a combined enrollment of nearly 44,000 students.

TWU, while co-ed, is “primarily for women,” as its name suggests, and has an enrollment of about 15,000 students, who pursue degrees in liberal arts, nursing, the sciences, business and education, according to its website. The university has campuses in Denton, Dallas and Houston.
