Textron Aviation is adding 100k square-foot hiring and training center in Wichita

Textron Aviation announced this week that it is adding a 100,000-plus square-foot hiring and learning center to its east Wichita campus on Central in between Webb and Greenwich.

It’s unclear what the total price of the facility will be. A state grant is covering $3.325 million of the bill. Construction is already underway. The facility is expected to be completed by August 2024.

“Our commitment to investing in our employees is unwavering, and the establishment of the Hiring and Learning Center is just the latest example of how we are advancing our focus on growing a world-class workforce,” Maggie Topping, senior vice president of human resources and communications, said in a Friday news release. “Centralizing our workforce development within this advanced facility is a success multiplier. It will not only equip our team with paid job training to achieve their full potential but also shape the future of Textron Aviation.”

The facility will bring together training and hiring activities that are currently at multiple buildings. It will also have an expanded footprint from its previous spaces.

It will include a paint lab, sheet metal training, flight control rigging, blueprint reading and interpretation, K-12 experiential space, multiple classrooms, learning labs and interviewing and onboarding spaces.

SPT Architecture, Conco Construction and Professional Engineering Consultants have been hired to build and design the facility.
