Thailand breeds and releases endangered bamboo sharks

LOCATION: RAYONG PROVINCE, THAILAND

Scores of young bamboo sharks have been released into the wild

Thai researchers are trying to save the endangered species

The sharks are popular with fish collectors and exotic food diners

They are also one of the smallest marine predators

"We dive down to the ocean floor to release the sharks in a safe area. This is done so that they have a better chance of survival. If we release them on the surface, there are more chances that they'll be eaten by bigger fishes or they'll swim away from sheltered (areas).

more than 200 bamboo sharks to the Gulf of Thailand
