‘Thank you Fort Worth!’: Lola’s music saloon’s heartfelt goodbye, takes bow after 16 years
A popular Fort Worth live music venue has closed its doors.
Lola’s Fort Worth at 2000 W. Berry St., announced Monday it was closing after 16 years of serving cold mugs of brew and rock and roll. On the venue’s final evening Nov. 29, “We went out with a bang! Big Mike’s Box of Rock was a fitting end.,” a Lola’s social media post read.
“Fort Worth has been wonderful to us through the years with love and support through thick and thin,” the venue’s Facebook post read. “I want to thank every single employee that has ever worked for Lola’s, without you 16 years would have not been possible.”
Owner Brian Forella opened Lola’s after operating another Fort Worth concert venue — The Wreck Room — from 1997 to 2007.
Lola’s opened first as “Lola’s Saloon” at 2736 West 6th St. in 2008. Later, Lola’s turned the lot to its immediate north into an outdoor music venue called “Lola’s Trailer Park,” according to Voyage Dallas.
Last spring, Lola’s announced that both of its venunes were leaving the West 7th area and moving near Texas Christian University, according to Fort Worth Weekly.
At its new digs, the venue opened simply as “Lola’s Fort Worth” in summer 2022 at 2000 W. Berry St.
“Every single person that has ever been to Lola’s means something to me,” Lola’s Facebook post read. “We have always felt the love and tried to give it right back.”
In its tenure, Lola’s has welcomed such musical acts as Cold War Kids, Fleet Foxes, Dr. Dog, Ra Ra Riot, Arlington’s Maren Morris and Fort Worth’s own Leon Bridges and The Toadies.
Many on social media flocked to Lola’s post to share their memories of time at the venue, along with well wishes for the staff. Most were just sad to see their favorite Fort Worth music venue close.
“Had some great times at Lola’s and heard many great musicians. Thank you all,” one comment read.
“It was an honor to be a part of the gang. I love you guys so much,” another comment read.
The love was mutual for Lola’s, who sent the venue off with one final note.
“Thank You Fort Worth!!” Lola’s Facebook post read. “The list of people to thank for any successes we had is longer than Rosedale Avenue.”
