A man in Singapore has won a small lottery after asking ChatGPT to generate random numbers.

Aaron Tan, who goes by the handle @8_aron on TikTok, recently took to the platform to share how he won a TOTO lottery game with help from artificial intelligence.

“Decided to ask CHATGPT for a set of nice 7 numbers for 5/4/23 draw and it did strike! Thanks CHATGPT,” Tan wrote in the caption.

As seen in his 9-second post, Tan asked ChatGPT to generate a set of seven numbers from 1 to 49. The program returned the following digits: 12, 21, 28, 26, 42, 44 and 47.

Tan decided to use the numbers in the exact order for a TOTO lottery on May 4. The game had a grand prize of 2.4 million Singaporean dollars ($1.8 million).

In an apparent stroke of luck, Tan got three — 21, 28 and 44 — of the seven numbers right, bagging a small prize of 50 Singaporean dollars (approximately $38).

This is not the first time someone has won a small lottery using ChatGPT.

In April, a man in Thailand took home $59 after using the program.
