Thanks to Taylor Swift fans, Travis Kelce is People magazine’s Sexiest Athlete of 2023

The fans have spoken. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is the Sexiest Athlete of 2023.

And can you guess whose fans helped win him that title?

Kelce beat out British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, professional baseball pitcher Shahei Ohtani and a Chiefs rival, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, in People magazine’s annual Readers’ Choice poll.

Kelce owes a big shoutout to Taylor Swift’s army of Swifties.

“The race for sexiest athlete of the year was tight, with Lewis Hamilton, Joe Burrow and Shahei Ohtani all competing at the highest level,” the magazine announced Wednesday.

“But the Kansas City Chiefs star got a last-minute boost in votes — thanks, perhaps, to his very A-list cheering section this fall.”

Swift and Kelce went public with their relationship in late September when Swift showed up at the first of three Chiefs games she has since attended at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

People editors choose the magazine’s famous Sexiest Man Alive. This year it’s former “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey, who is still firing on all those Dr. McDreamy cylinders these days.

The magazine wrote, “We knew that there are plenty of other sexy guys out there who have fans arguing for them as passionately as some of the people in the office angled for our top choice to take the top spot.”

Tens of thousands of ballots were cast, according to People, and what do you want to bet that most in the “sexiest athlete” category were cast by Swifites?

Before Dempsey appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday night to claim his title, Swifties spent the day dreaming that Kelce would win Sexiest Man Alive this year.

Kelce has crammed a lifetime of memories into one year. He helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII, hosted “Saturday Night Live,” held his own music festival, has seen his “New Heights” podcast become one of the most popular in the nation, started dating Swift and become the Chiefs’ all-time leading receiver.

Actually, the magazine did choose to feature a Kelce as one of its sexiest men of the year, but it was Jason Kelce, Travis’ brother, center for the Philadelphia Eagles.

He is featured in the “Sexiest Man Alive” issue along with actors Pedro Pascal and Timothée Chalamet, and musicians Usher, Lenny Kravitz and Jamie Foxx.

“Despite soaring fame from his New Heights podcast with brother Travis and his Prime Video documentary,” People wrote, “the Philadelphia Eagles’ star center, 36, keeps it real as a husband and father of three: ‘We’re just trying to have fun.’”

People has chosen a Sexiest Man Alive each year since 1985. Mel Gibson was the first. Kansas City’s own superhero, “Ant-Man” star and Big Slick co-host Paul Rudd, was tapped as Sexiest in 2021. Another Marvel movie star, Chris Evans, was chosen last year.
