Thanksgiving 2020: What's Open, Closed In Harrison

HARRISON, NY—Thanksgiving is all about celebrating family, enjoying good food and giving thanks. To give everyone a chance to celebrate, many places are closed. No need to worry, though, if you run out of last-minute ingredients while preparing the day's feast. A few stores are open, even if for a limited schedule.

Here's what's closed:

  • Government offices

  • The U.S. Post Office. There will be no mail delivery from the U.S. Post Office.

  • There is also no UPS or FedEx pickup or delivery.

  • Public libraries are closed.

  • Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. Harrison district officials posted on the website: "We are not closing schools after Thanksgiving! Harrison's schools will remain open as long as they are safe and there are enough teachers and staff to operate them effectively. We have no plans to close schools after Thanksgiving and will maintain our current school and holiday calendar. We will close by a governor's mandate, or if the spread of Covid 19 makes it untenable to keep schools open safely. Governor Cuomo has implemented cluster zones that identify areas with rising infection rates and place restrictions to limit the spread of Covid 19. The mandate impacts a District's ability to remain open. We are working to keep our students in school, and with your partnership, we will make this a reality. "

Bee-Line Buses

There will be no Bee-Line service Thanksgiving Day.

Metro-North Railroad

Metro North won't be running extra trains this year for the Thanksgiving weekend. Trains for Wednesday through Sunday will be on the weekend schedule. You can double check their schedule here.

Last Minute Groceries

While Thanksgiving Day feasts are likely to be a little smaller this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, that doesn’t mean we’re less likely to forget the cranberry sauce, the gravy or the whipped topping for the pumpkin pie.
