Thanksgiving closures: What's opened and closed in Columbus this turkey day?

Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday mean a host of public services like trash collection, government offices and retailers closing for the holiday or changing their hours to accommodate shoppers looking for bargains or to give workers time with their families.

Many major retailers have decided to close their doors on Thanksgiving, moving away from the days of door-busters and Thursday evening chaos. In 2021, Target announced a permanent decision to close on Thanksgiving day.

The retailer closed on Thanksgiving Day in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and after positive feedback from workers and customers, the company decided to continue the practice indefinitely. Many retailers have made similar decisions.
