Blues’ Patrick Maroon shares heartwarming moment with their biggest fan

After beating the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference final, the St. Louis Blues have earned the right to play for the Stanley Cup for the first time in 49 long years.

Their season has been nothing short of historic — sitting in last place in the entire league on January 3, the Blues turned their season around in a big way, qualifying for the playoffs before marching all the way to the Cup final against the Boston Bruins.

The Blues are happy to share all of their success with their fans, but there’s one particular fan who has helped motivate the team throughout the season.

Blues winger Patrick Maroon credits Laila Anderson, a young fan who’s battling a life-threatening immune disease disorder, for helping the team to find the strength to compete day in and day out. After beating the Sharks and advancing to the Cup final, Maroon shared a moment with Leila that will surely hit you in the feels.

Raptors fans probably won’t forget Kawhi Leonard’s Game 7 heroics over the Philadelphia 76ers any time soon, but superfan Ian Maningas wasn’t willing to take that risk.

"Being a Raptors fan, it's been years of misery and heartbreak, missed shots or missed opportunities," Maningas shared with Cross Country Checkup. "We finally had something fall our way and I wanted to pay tribute to that."

And boy, did he ever!

Maningas’ fresh ink depicts Kawhi crouched on the court, watching as his shot clanks off of the rim four times before dropping in for the Raptors win. The moment that many now refer to as “The Shot” was one of the greatest moments in the history of professional sports in Toronto, and Maningas has just achieved legend status with his latest tattoo.
