The Stones Roses’ Reni Admits He’s Scared To Talk About Band’s Rumoured New Record

Not many would want to face Ian Brown in a fight.

The Stone Roses’ drummer Reni is no different.

He says has been told to keep tight-lipped over rumours the band are making a third album – as he fears he’ll get his “a*se kicked” if he blabs.

Reni, above, admitted he has been in the studio, but isn’t allowed to discuss whether or not he is working on a follow-up to 1994’s Second Coming.

The 51-year-old told NME magazine: “I’m recording. I can’t tell you anything because I’ll get my a**e kicked.”

Fans of the band, which also includes frontman Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire and bassist Mani, headed down to Paul Epworth’s Church Studios in Crouch End, north London over Easter on hearing they were rumoured to be recording there.

And one of them claims to have been told by Mani and John they were simply “rehearsing for gigs”, despite the studio being built purposefully as a recording studio than place to rehearse.

However, previous reports suggest Brown and Co, pictured performing above, are definitely making an album.

A source has said: “Ian Brown and the lads have been busy getting their next album ready. It will be album number three. It’s a long time coming but they feel the time is right now. They’ve been back in the studio. Everyone is very excited about it.”

The Stone Roses – who split in 1996 and reunited in 2012 – are currently practicing hard for their forthcoming tour dates this summer, including five hometown shows at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester and a festival exclusive at T In The Park in June.
