Theatre Tuscaloosa adds extra performance of ABBA musical 'Mamma Mia!'

Because of high ticket demand, there will be another chance-chance-chance at "Mamma Mia!" seats as Theatre Tuscaloosa has just added a 7:30 p.m. July 19 performance to its run of the ABBA-based musical. The shows will run July 15-24.

“Audience members have been waiting to see this show since we first announced it in 2019,” said Tina Turley, the company's executive producer, in a written release.

“With all that excitement, tickets are selling very fast. It’s clear we need to add a performance so that more people will get to see the show.”

Tickets for the added Tuesday show are now available at www.theatretusc.com. The previously announced performances have a limited number of seats left, and audience members are encouraged to purchase early, as sell-outs are expected.

Performances will be 7:30 p.m. July 15, 16, 17, 19, 21 and 22, with 2 p.m. matinees July 17, 20, 23, and 24. All performances will be in the Bean-Brown Theatre, at Theatre Tuscaloosa's home in Shelton State Community College, 9500 Old Greensboro Road.

Tickets are $24 general admission, $20 for seniors and members of the military, and $16 for students and children. Special rates are available for Shelton State students and for groups of 10 or more, if purchased in advance.

A "pay-what-you-can" final dress rehearsal benefitting the Charlie Dennis Memorial Scholarship will be open to the public at 7:30 p.m. July 14.
