The White Lotus is back and juicier than ever, and even though the series was only supposed to be a mini, meaning it was a one-and-done situation, the HBO gods decided we all deserved more murder mysteries. This season takes place in Sicily, and there’s a whole new cast of characters checking in with their literal and figurative baggage. (But not all of them will check out, if you know what I mean.)

The fun part about White Lotus is that it’s a murder mystery that focuses on *who* is murdered and less on who did the murdering. But it's also worth remembering that technically, season 1's death was an accident, not an out-and-out murder. That adds a whole new level of questions viewers need to be asking themselves, especially in regards to these theories. While we're all out here looking for motive and opportunity, maybe that will all be for nothing? Either way, multiple guests (at least two, maybe more?) are dead by the time the finale is over. Here are all the best theories for who died, based on what we know so far. [There are spoilers ahead for the first five episodes of The White Lotus season 2.]

Who dies: Harper Spiller and Ethan Spiller (Aubrey Plaza and Will Sharpe)

Based on the tension between Harper + Ethan and their “friends” Daphne (Meghann Fahy) + Cameron (Theo James), this seems like a solid option. Even in episode 1, it’s clear they’re really not comfortable around each other, and because it looks like multiple people have died, wouldn’t it make sense for it to be a couple? The tension has just increased since the beginning of the season.

And because Daphne is the one to find the first body, doesn’t that feel super apt? Creator Mike White has also said this season really focuses on sexual politics. IDK, the math is mathing for me.

Who dies: Cameron Sullivan

Okay, the plot between Cameron and Harper has definitely thickened since the premiere, and based on the most recent episode, there is, if not some actual sexual tension brewing, some perceived sexual tension brewing. What if Harper and Cameron have a hate-filled tryst, Ethan finds out about it, and he murders Cameron? There’s already major resentment between these two guys. Ethan’s whole mimetic desire monologue…it does not look good for Cameron, especially coupled with the scenes from the "next week on" where we see the two of them fighting in the water.

Who dies: Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge)

I love Jennifer Coolidge so much, so I would never want her to die because I want there to be infinite seasons of this show and I want her to be in every one of them. But her checking into the White Lotus again is very, like, “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.” There’s no way her character could escape another murder, right? Who is that lucky?!

There is something VERY weird going on with these men she’s found herself with in Palemo. I mean, Tanya has witnessed something she was definitely not supposed to witness between Quentin and his "nephew," and Quentin (Tom Hollander) gave her that whole speech asking her if she would die for beauty. There's also the Greg thing, and that was definitely Greg in the photo with a young Quentin. Are those two working together? Is there a plot to murder Tanya for her money? And Jack was definitely in charge of getting Portia away from Tanya, right? Hence their little trip? There's so much to unpack there.

In the preview for the finale, we do see Tanya get back on the boat. What if something happens on the boat and Tanya and Portia die and their bodies wash up on shore later on? See also: this very fun outfit theory that might prove Tanya's the one who dies.

Who kills them: Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore)

a still from the white lotus season 2
HBO Max

[Spoilers ahead for The White Lotus season 1.] I don’t think the show would actually do this, but they already killed off one hotel manager as another comment on the havoc rich people wreak wherever they go. We know Valentina survives because she arrives at the beach scene where the bodies were found. So what if instead of the hotel manager being the dead one, the hotel manager is…the killer?

Who kills them: Daphne

I’m going to put it out there right now: Daphne is the best character this season. But, like, in an unhinged way. The way she basically confessed to Harper that her son(s) may or may not even be Cameron’s kids? She’s going off the rails, and she’s the one who finds a body at the end of the show. The rules of Hollywood are that the person who finds the body ends up being suspect number one.

Who kills them: Dominic (Michael Imperioli)

The triangle of Dominic, Lucia, and Mia has suddenly become more complicated, with Albie and Lucia becoming romantically involved. Dominic definitely doesn’t like that Lucia is hanging out with his son, but Lucia is in danger, or at least she appears to be. Could things escalate and this be the end of Lucia? Or could Lucia use this as leverage to get Albie to take her back to L.A. with them?
