'Theresa Caputo Live!' coming to Fritz Auditorium

Jun. 15—GRAND FORKS — Tickets for "Theresa Caputo Live! The Experience," scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Chester Fritz Auditorium, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 17.
In the show, Caputo, star of the TLC's hit reality series, "Long Island Medium," will share personal stories about her life and explain how her gift works, according to an announcement from Betty Allan, auditorium director.
A practicing medium for more than 20 years, she delivers "healing messages to audience members and gives people comfort knowing that their deceased loved ones are still with them, just in a different way," according to the news release.
Caputo, a New York Times best-selling author, has been "seeing, feeling and sensing Spirit" since age 4, she said. In her venue performance, she "lets Spirit guide her through the audience" and a video display ensures everyone in the auditorium has an up-close-hands-on experience regardless of where they're seated.
In addition to her TV show, Caputo has appeared on "Jay Leno," "Jimmy Fallon," "Steve Harvey," "Live with Kelly and Michael," "Dr. Oz" and "The Today Show."

The Grand Forks City Band will start its outdoor summer concert series at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the Myra Museum, 2405 Belmont Road.
All concerts are free. Guests should bring their own lawn chairs.
Other concerts are planned for June 30 and July 4, 14 and 28, according to Janelle Huber, interim director of the band. The July 4 concert will be presented in conjunction with the Sertoma celebration.
The June 16 concert program includes: "The Star Spangled Banner," featuring vocal soloist Paul Tandberg; "National Emblem March," by E.E. Bagley; "An Irish Rhapsody," by Clare Grundman; "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral," by Richard Wagner; "The Whistler and His Dog," by Arthur Pryor; "The Crosley March," by Henry Fillmore; "A Night in June," by Karl L. King; "I've Made My Plans for the Summer," by John Philip Sousa, featuring vocal soloist Gus Tandberg; "Selections from Chicago," by Fred Ebb and John Kander, and "The Trombone King," by Karl L. King.
"When I'm Sixty-Four," by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, will be performed by the band's Clarinet Ensemble.
As interim director, Huber is taking over Don Langlie, who retired as director this past spring. He directed the band for the past 11 years.
"We loved his conducting and leadership, and will miss him going forward," Huber said. "He did a fantastic job in building the band over the years."
The Altru Family YMCA is sponsoring its annual family-friendly Firecracker 5K and 10K Fun Run/Walk starting at 8 a.m. July 4 on the Greenway. A free Kiddie Run begins at 8:15 a.m.
The start and finish line will be set up across from Town Square, said Patti McEnroe, race director. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers overall and in age groups.
Participants in the 5K and 10K events will receive a commemorative T-shirt, McEnroe said. Free goodie bags will be given to participants in the Kiddie Run.
Race fees for those who are registered by Saturday, June 18 will be $30 for adults and $20 for youth, ages 12 and younger. From June 19 to July 2, race fees are $35 for adults and $25 for youth. For those who register on race day, fees are $40 for adults and $30 for youth.
Chip timing and race registration will be handled by the See Dick Run store of Grand Forks.

An noted art historian and archivist from Augsburg College in St. Paul will be the special guest June 26 at a fund-raising event, "Lefse and Lemonade," for Grue Lutheran Church in rural Buxton, North Dakota.
The second annual event will be held at the church, located about 7 miles northeast of Buxton, at the intersection of 168th Avenue Northeast and 14th Street Northeast. A free-will lunch, with Swedish meatballs, will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a lecture and music from 1 to 3 p.m.
Kristin Anderson, professor of art history and archivist at Augsburg College, will talk about the altar painting artist, Sarah Kirkeberg Raugland, whose work hangs in many churches in the region. Anderson's lecture will be followed by a tour of three area churches where Raugland's paintings are displayed.
The "Lefse and Lemonade" event will also feature a silent auction; a lefse-making demonstration by Kathy Hepper, Linette Hagel and Tim Paulson; and music by Lane Linseth, accordion. It will also include lawn games for all ages; guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and umbrellas.
Members of the Grue Church Project committee are hosting the event to raise funds for the restoration of the 130-year-old Grue Lutheran Church, which they plan to develop into a heritage, cultural and sacred venue.

The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is showing "Nature's Offerings: An Art Exhibit Featuring Works by Debbie Dahl Aune and Other Northwest Minnesota Artists" at the NWMAC Gallery at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls.
An artist reception is planned from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 22. Refreshments will be served. Enter through Door A. Visitor parking is free.
Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and at other times when events are held at the college.
