They're comin' to your city: Big & Rich to perform on bridge for Beaver County Boom!

Flashes of light will zoom through the sky, bursting into a cascade of whirling colors amid a sound that will rattle the hills and valley.

Beaver County Boom! returns June 24, ready to get tens of thousands of Beaver County-ites oohing and aahing.

Presented by Visit Beaver County, the dazzling, glittering fireworks show will be bigger and better than ever thanks to spin-off events, including a free concert atop the Veterans Memorial Bridge headlined by country stars Big & Rich.

Famed for hits "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" and "Comin' to Your City," Big & Rich will hit the main stage around 8:30 p.m., putting a little zing in everyone's zang zang until 9:45 p.m. when a Zambelli Internationale fireworks show blasts the sky above where the Ohio and Beaver rivers meet.

"This is the biggest budget we've had in the history of Boom," said Mark Kopsack of PUSH Beaver County, founders and coordinators of the 13th annual event.

Preceding the fireworks will be skydivers and a series of flyovers by three vintage military airplanes ― including one seen in the 1997 Nicolas Cage movie "Con Air," ― from the Air Heritage Museum in Chippewa Township.

The fireworks will be simulcast to music broadcast by Beaver County Radio (99.3 and 95.7 FM). The theme will be a tribute to Vietnam War veterans. A Vietnam veterans' get-together will take place earlier that day in Beaver near the gazebo.

The concert festival, called Boom on The Bridge, will begin at 3 p.m. and include multiple stages, a beer garden featuring Beaver County breweries, and food trucks.

The festival grounds will stretch along Riverside Drive in Bridgewater to the Bigham Tavern at Bridgewater, a soon-to-open riverfront restaurant.

"We invite the community to come out and meet us on June 24," Bigham Tavern at Bridgewater officials said via an Instagram post. "We are busting out the food tents and beer buggy and setting up shop along Riverside Drive during Beaver County Boom!"

Still awaiting final processing and paperwork before it opens, Bigham Tavern will replace Mario's Dockside Grille, which moved to 410 Wolf Lane and rebranded as Mario's 410 Grille, which will host the Beaver County Boom! sponsors-and-VIP party.

The festival's children's zone will be next to the batting cages in Bridgewater.

Free shuttle service for the concert will be provided at drop-off points like the Bradys Run Ice Arena and additional sites to be announced.

Monaca will host a community day that same day and night; Bridgewater previously had its Summerfest scheduled that day further down Riverside Drive with live entertainment from 4-10 p.m. including bands Right Turn Clyde, Stacey and the Wild Cards and Anaphylaxis.

Beaver and Rochester also will be bustling with people seeking a good spot to see the fireworks.

According to estimates, more than 30,000 people annually attend the Beaver County Boom!

"People have just made it their family reunion," PUSH Beaver County's Nate Kopsack, brother of Mark, said. "You see the comments on social media, like 'We wouldn't miss it; all our friends come back to town for it.' It's just a homecoming. Everyone looks forward to the tradition of Beaver County Boom!"

Tony Caltury, Beaver County’s Recreation & Tourism director, said "we are thrilled to partner with PUSH Beaver County to take this event to new heights. Boom on the Bridge will be an unprecedented celebration, combining stunning fireworks displays with an array of exciting activities and entertainment for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy."

JD Turco, spokesman for event co-sponsors Shop n Save and True Value Hardware at Rochester Plaza, added, "We are excited to join forces with Visit Beaver County and PUSH Beaver County to bring the community an extraordinary event that not only dazzles with fireworks but also showcases the spirit and talent of our local performers and businesses. Boom on the Bridge will undoubtedly be an occasion to celebrate our vibrant community, uniting residents and visitors alike in an unforgettable celebration of unity, joy and excitement."
