Thibodaux 2024 Mardi Gras parade schedule, routes announced
THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — It’s Carnival time in Thibodaux!
As the city starts to gear up, officials with the Thibodaux Police Department have announced the schedule and routes for the 2024 Mardi Gras parade season.
Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue also offered tips to help residents stay safe while having fun on the routes.
Parades
The Thibodaux parade schedule is as follows:
Krewe of Shaka will roll on Feb. 4 at 12:30 p.m.
Krewe of Ambrosia will roll on Feb. 4 at 2 p.m.
Krewe of Cleophas will roll on Feb. 11 at 12:30 p.m.
Krewe of Chronos will roll on Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.
Krewe of Ghana will roll on Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.
Routes
Krewe of Shaka, Krewe of Ambrosia, Krewe of Cleophas and Krewe of Chronos will follow the same route. Officials said the parades will start on Audubon Avenue at Afton Street heading north, turn left onto Menard Street, turn right onto Canal Boulevard to West 2nd Street, then turn left onto West 2nd Street to Louisiana 1 to Jackson Street South on Jackson Street, turn left onto West 9th Street headed to Canal Boulevard, turn left on Canal Boulevard then right onto East 7th Street headed east, turn right onto Bayou Lane traveling south and continue to North Acadia Road, turn left onto North Acadia Road and continue east to Audubon Avenue and continue north to Nichols State University ending at John L. Guidry Stadium.
Krewe of Ghana will start on Iris Street at M.L.K. Park west to Rock Street, turn left on Rock Street, then right on School Street to Canal Boulevard, then right onto St. Charles Street, turn left on Menard Street to Canal Boulevard, then right to West 2nd St, left on W.2nd Street to Louisiana 1 to Jackson Street, then left to Jackson Street onto West 9th Street to Canal Boulevard, turn left onto Canal Boulevard and continue to East 7th Street onto St. Charles Street and travel south to Gerald T. Peltier. At Gerald T. Peltier turn left and continue east to South Acadia Road. Parade will disperse at M.L.K. Boulevard.
Safety Tips
Thibodaux police also offered the following safety tips:
Don’t park along posted routes or in front of driveways and fire hydrants
Be sure to lock your car
Keep a close eye on your children and don’t let them wander off
Make sure children know to stay behind barricades
Blocking off areas of the neutral ground for private use is illegal
Glass containers are not allowed on the parade route
Don’t rush into the middle of a parade to grab beads
Travel in groups, tell people where you’re going and have a designated meeting spot
Have a designated driver
Only park in designated areas
